Innovations Ignite Flame-Retardant Polyurethane Market

Recent breakthroughs in flame-retardant polyurethane (PU) technology are reshaping material safety standards across industries. Chinese firms lead with novel patents: Jushi Group developed a nano-SiO₂-enhanced waterborne PU, achieving an oxygen index of 29% (Grade A fire resistance) through phosphorus-nitrogen synergy, while Guangdong Yurong created a ternary intumescent flame retardant that chemically bonds to PU molecules, ensuring long-lasting safety without leaching. Kunming Zhezitao integrated phosphate-modified carbon fibers into PU elastomers, boosting thermal stability and char formation during combustion.
